I'm living in Switzerland now. Why? Ostensibly to go to school. Actually why? That's one of many things I'm still trying to figure out. I live in a tiny village called Corcelles, just outside a smallish town called Neuchâtel. No, I don't speak French. That's one of the other things I'm figuring out. Helping me out with this is the lovely Portuguese family I'm living with, the Kunzis. This is all part of a bureaucratic monstrosity called NJC, which basically throws Canadian students fresh out of high school into a foreign country, and then bombards them with pointless rules and regulations while failing to address any major concerns (like say, keeping us safe). What they do do, however, is offer classes and trips.
Among the classes I'm taking is something called "Writer's Craft". I know, sounds snooty. But what it actually is two hours a day when I'm forced to write whatever comes to mind. As would be expected, this sometimes (read often), has lacklustre results. But every once in a while, something worthwhile seems to come out of my ranting and raving, and I figured since I'm writing it, someone might as well read it. Hence, my return to dA. Expect less fractals and more poetry.
There will probably be some new photography coming in too. I don't have my favourite camera or all my shiny equipment over here yet, and I haven't really felt the photography rush since I started writing, but I am living in the centre of Europe, so I'm bound to get some decent shots eventually.
Anyway, that's my new life in Switzerland. Frustrating, compelling, confusing, enlightening. Lot's of "ing"s. On that note, the third thing I have to figure out is the French equivalent of the present participle. In the meantime, enjoy my new work! (Or don't, and complain to me about it! I really don't mind.)
